1. The place that is represented in my art is the crooked trees in which Native Americans would invest years intentionally bending and shaping hardwood trees into specific horizontal shapes that could be spotted from great distances. The reason this is important to me is I want to do and witness some of these trees and learn more about Native American History and culture.
2. The thing that was much challenging to me was getting the right colors for the background and mud. I wanted to make the background look more realistic and like the pictures so wasted a lot of time trying to get it just right. For the mud I also couldn't get the yellowish-green correct for the grass so I had to repeat the processes over and over again and I had to lighten the mud and find the right brown for that. 3. What I feel was most successful for my piece was the background trees and the way a made the trees in front darker so there was some perspective. For the background trees I feel like I painting the branches and trunks well enough to look realistic and the way I used the fan brush created a nice effect for the leaves. 4. My process for this was first laying down a layer of red paint, then painting that over with green, yellowish-green, and a very light yellow to make my background. Then I painting the mud and grass. After that I painting the background trees and finally finished it by adding the main trees in the foreground. P.S.- I wasn't able to upload my pictures because Weebly won't work for some reason and I haven't finished my painting so I will come by during lunch to finish it and sort out this problem.
