(Art skills, meaning, creative, realistic) 2-CRITIQUE an older piece of your worka. For my critique I choose my watercolor piece. I used several washes and colors to make this piece. It has a lot of bright colors and i made it look like a storybook. b. It is very bright an multicolored, not a lot of values on the lines, the sky has a rocky texture due to the salt I added, has a lot of emphasis on the two bears. c.The mood is very happy, colorful and childish due to the use of colors and they style of the animals and trees. The story being told is two bears traveling together during a starry night. The idea of family and childhood is very prominent in this piece. d. I think that overall it was pretty successful in communicating its theme. The bright colors help emphasize the theme of childhood storybook. Also the use of watercolor style and the drawing style helps it look more childish and happy. QUESTION 9- Illustration FridaysFriday we were assigned spring break so I drew Stormfly form how to train your dragon on a beach relaxing. To show the theme spring break I added the beach, beach ball, and palm trees and drew Stormfly happy to make it look like they were relaxing. The reason I selected it was because I was very proud of myself for drawing it because Stormfly was kind of hard to draw and I was happy when i looked how I wanted it to. Even though I don't think this helped me on the projects I was working on, it did help my drawing skill increase a bit. Question 17-Sketchbook: pick any warm-up from your sketchbook that you found beneficialI picked one of the hand drawings for the warm-ups that we did during the drawing unit. The activity for this was drawing a hand using our own hard so we could get better at drawing hands. The reason I selected this was that it really helped me draw hands and helped me get better a drawing. Question 16- ReDoIf given the opportunity, which project would you do over? If I could do over a project it would be my painting project. The reason I would do over this project is that it did not come out like I wanted to and it had a lot of mistakes. It I could another one my theme would be the animal kingdom, and it would have a lot of animals on a tree or something. I would have spent more time on the trees and made the grass, dirt, and leaves more realistic.
1. The place that is represented in my art is the crooked trees in which Native Americans would invest years intentionally bending and shaping hardwood trees into specific horizontal shapes that could be spotted from great distances. The reason this is important to me is I want to do and witness some of these trees and learn more about Native American History and culture.
2. The thing that was much challenging to me was getting the right colors for the background and mud. I wanted to make the background look more realistic and like the pictures so wasted a lot of time trying to get it just right. For the mud I also couldn't get the yellowish-green correct for the grass so I had to repeat the processes over and over again and I had to lighten the mud and find the right brown for that. 3. What I feel was most successful for my piece was the background trees and the way a made the trees in front darker so there was some perspective. For the background trees I feel like I painting the branches and trunks well enough to look realistic and the way I used the fan brush created a nice effect for the leaves. 4. My process for this was first laying down a layer of red paint, then painting that over with green, yellowish-green, and a very light yellow to make my background. Then I painting the mud and grass. After that I painting the background trees and finally finished it by adding the main trees in the foreground. P.S.- I wasn't able to upload my pictures because Weebly won't work for some reason and I haven't finished my painting so I will come by during lunch to finish it and sort out this problem. At the same time he was struggling with drugs leading him to get fired and placed in a treatment facility. While at the treatment facility he rekindled his love and passion for art and ended up doing it full time when he became sober. What makes this art inspiring to me is the feeling of hope, companionship, and loneliness. What makes me feel hope sort of ties in with the companionship in the sense that even though you or the child in the painting are alone in a decaying world you can still survive. For companionship i feel like the animals represent protection and safety, because of the way the child wonders about freely and not cautiously like they would do if they were alone. This relationship feels almost like a parent and child relationship with the animal being the parent and the child being the child. Finally I get the feeling of loneliness from the way everything and abandoned and broken like everyone left. Usually the child is the only human in the picture. What drew me in about the pictures were the imaginable relationships between the children and the animals, especially the predators. |
